Bonuses and Extras:
Breeding Counts: Any time a highborn character would reduce his Influence, he reduces it by 1 less (to a minimum reduction of 1).
The Face of the Law: An arbitrator can re-roll any Intimidation and Interrogation test, and can substitute his Willpower bonus for his degrees of success on these tests.
Nothing Escapes My Sight: In addition to the normal uses of Fate points, a Seeker character may spend a Fate point to automatically succeed at an Awareness or Inquiry skill test with a number of degrees of success equal to his Perception bonus.
The Harlocke family’s manufactorums are legendary among Calixian highborn. Based primarily in the Imperial World of Sophen, the Harlocke line originated when Draco Harlocke was pressured by the Head of the Rosenkrantz Dynasty to design armor the Rogue Trader could wear into combat across his personal crusade on the edge of the Calixis Sector, and into the Koronus Expanse. What the man produced was so-appreciated by the Trader-Militant, that Draco found himself catapulted into minor Calixian nobility by his patron, and given a Charter linking him to the Lathe Worlds, establishing the first of the Harlocke Manufactorums on Sophen. For centuries, the Harlocke enterprise has served in the production of high-quality equipment, armour and weapons for Planetary Governors, Lords-Subsector, Rogue Trader Dynasties, Merchant Houses, and Mercenary Companies.
Due in part to the influence of the Rosenkrantz family over the Imperial World of Sophen, and to the historic connection of patronage between them and the Harlocke line, close partnerships exist between the two, with the Rosenkrantz Household Guard being almost entirely outfitted with armor, weapons, and equipment of the Harlocke Manufactorums.
For Karl Bruno, as a member of the patron Dynasty, the partnership has been of benefit in outfitting the Magistrate with personally-commissioned Harlocke Pattern Master-Craft Magistrate Armor, with the iconic Raven of the Rosenkrantz line added into the design of the Pauldron, and a dark-tempered ceramite, giving it a dark and foreboding appearance. It is also engineered to include a pict-recorder and microbead in the helmet’s systems, which serve the wearer well in investigations and detective work -something Karl has come to deeply appreciate. The chest-piece has a built-in laud hailer, connected into the helmet’s vox systems, allowing the wearer to project his voice when raiding a cultist operation, or taking down xenophile members of the Cold Trade.
Naturally, being a ranking member of the Adeptus Arbites, a commissioned Harlocke Pattern Lightning Mace was given to him by his father, Lord Eugen, upon his return from the Schola Progenia where he had been sent to train; an exquisitely built shock maul he’s kept with him for decades.
Throughout his years in the Adeptus Arbites, Karl has gathered a set of tools, useful in the extraction of information from the unwilling. This excruciator kit contains a “clipper” used to remove phalanges at the joints; several large metal rods intended to carry a current through the suspect’s body between the points where the needle-like rods have been driven i; a syringe with several doses of Soma, a neurotoxin that can dull extreme pain, and bring relief and even pleasure to the more cooperative suspects, at the risk of severe damage to the nerves; a set of “peelers” which clip onto the skin at several points, and help skin the suspect alive; and a thermal prod with its charge pack.
